Skin Cancer Surgical TreatmentsIf you have been diagnosed with skin cancer through histopathological examination (skin biopsy), the best (gold standard) treatment is excision of the skin cancer with adequate clear margins.

Depending on the size and anatomical location most skin cancers can be excised as an office procedure under local anaesthetics. All skin specimens removed at surgery will be sent for histopathological examination to confirm completeness of excision. Complete excision with adequate safe margins has more than 90% cure rate. Sometimes, if excision margins are not adequate, the second excision with wider margins might be required.

For complicated excisions or difficult anatomical sites we refer the patient to plastic surgeons either in private or in public hospitals.
